Chairman & CEO
Royal Lovell joined Flood and Peterson in 1997 and is the Chairman & CEO. He is a stockholder and a member of the Board of Directors. Royal leads the mission, vision and strategic direction of the agency. His leadership provides broad industry experience and a wealth of knowledge focused on positively impacting key agency stakeholders – Flood and Peterson employees, clients, insurance carrier partners and communities.
With a strong belief for Flood and Peterson’s foundational core value of investment, engagement and advancement of our local communities, Royal actively holds numerous leadership roles throughout the community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Colorado Medical Center Foundation and is a Finance Committee member for the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. He is a Board of Director for the Northern Colorado Economic Alliance (NCEA) and member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Colorado Chapter. He also is a member of the Business Advisory Committee for Weld County School District 6.
Royal received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from North Dakota State University.
Brett Kemp joined Flood and Peterson in 2007 and is the agency President. He is a stockholder and a member of the Board of Directors. Brett is responsible for leading innovation and business development, as well as, the management of the day-to-day operations to ensure revenue growth. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Brett champions improvements to performance and procedures through accountability, operational excellence and advancement. He believes in continually developing staff members, mentoring leadership and proactively helping our clients reduce their total cost of risk.
Community investment is a foundational core value of Flood and Peterson and remains the same today. Brett stewards this core value through his long-standing and active involvement throughout the communities where our clients and employees live and work. He currently serves as a Board of Director for the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Business Workforce Experience Advisory Committee for Thompson School District.
Brett received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Executive Vice President
Rusty Lear joined Flood and Peterson in 2007 and is an agency Vice President. He is a stockholder and a member of the Board of Directors. Rusty brings invaluable financial insight and has over 30 years of industry experience. He focuses on the financial health and success of Flood and Peterson. He also leads the Flood and Peterson Surety Division, which is responsible for implementing best practices when representing our construction clients and surety partners.
Rusty is an active member of the Construction and Surety industry; he is a past Board of Director of the Association of General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado and past President of Association of General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado, Associate Council Board. He is a past officer of Professionals for Colorado Construction Council and currently an at-large National Director for the National Association of Surety Bond Producers. Rusty serves in leadership positions for various non-profit organizations throughout the Denver Metro area.
Rusty received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Science and Finance from Kansas State University.
CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Jill joined Flood and Peterson in 2016 and is the Chief Financial Officer. Jill brings more than 20 years of invaluable financial insight and experience to the agency. As Flood and Peterson’s Chief Financial Officer, she is responsible for the implementation of key finance initiatives and best practices, including strategies focused on organizational growth and success. Jill provides leadership and expertise through the development of agency financial planning by forecasting capital, identification of monetary resources and execution of action plans to minimize the impact and variances.
Jill earned a Master’s of Science in Accounting from Regis University and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from West Texas A&M University. She is a Certified Public Accountant for the state of Colorado and a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is a graduate of Leadership Ascent program and completed Six Sigma training through Cummins, Inc.
Chief Operations Officer
Whitney Shupe joined Flood and Peterson in 2003 and is the Chief Operations Officer. She is a shareholder and a member of the Board Directors. In her role as Chief Operations Officer, Whitney leverages her more than a decade of experience in the execution of operational strategies to optimize efficiency, management of resources to ensure financial strength and alignment of organizational goals and employees.
Whitney is focused on the advancement of Flood and Peterson’s growth culture through her leadership in recruitment, development, and guidance of key personnel. In addition to providing vision and strategic direction for Flood and Peterson’s value-added service platforms, she assists in the creation of strategies concentrated on the enhancement of the client experience, operational excellence and continued advancement of significant insurance carrier relationships.
Whitney received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a PEP (Power of Extended Philanthropy) member of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado; a generous, passionate and diverse group of leaders who believe in creating change.
